As part of its supervisory and enforcement responsibilities, the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC) may impose administrative measures and penalties on audited entities and regulated individuals that fail to comply with their obligations under the applicable legislative and regulatory framework.
Prior to the imposition of an administrative penalty, the HGC may, by decision, apply the administrative measure of Compliance, in accordance with Article 51(1) of Law 4002/2011. This measure is intended to provide the regulated entity with the opportunity to remedy identified deficiencies and restore compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements.
Where a violation is established, the HGC assesses the nature and severity of the infringement, taking into account all relevant aggravating and mitigating circumstances. Depending on the circumstances of the case, the HGC may impose one or more of the following penalties:
- A monetary fine ranging from €1,000 to €2,000,000 for each infringement.
- Temporary revocation of the licence for a period of up to three months.
- Permanent revocation of the licence.
