The Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC) is the competent authority for issuing licenses for the operation of Electronic Technical-Amusement Games using Gaming Machines.
An Operator is any natural or legal person that conducts such operations. In the case of Mixed Premises, the term also includes the person carrying out the principal business activity at those premises, provided that they have applied to the HGC for the Certification of the Establishment.
The operation of Electronic Technical-Amusement Games with Gaming Machines requires an Operating License issued by the HGC. The licensing procedures, required supporting documents, administrative sanctions, and all other relevant details are governed by HGC Decision No. 130/2/18.11.2014 (Government Gazette B’ 3225), entitled “Regulation of Matters Relating to the Conduct and Supervision of Electronic Technical-Amusement Games with Gaming Machines.”
Operators of Electronic Technical-Amusement Games may be either sole proprietorships or legal entities established as partnerships or capital companies, provided that they are taxed in accordance with the applicable provisions of Greek tax legislation.
Non-profit legal entities are not eligible to obtain an Operating License for Electronic Technical-Amusement Games.
