Recognized Independent Specialized Laboratories (Test Labs) are accredited entities responsible for the testing, evaluation, and certification of systems, equipment, and software used in the gambling sector. Their role is to ensure that gambling products, gaming systems, and related technical infrastructure comply with the applicable regulatory, technical, operational, and security requirements before being deployed or used by licensed operators.
Pursuant to Ministerial Decision No. 56580 EX 2022 (Government Gazette B’ 2166/2022), entitled “Amendment and Codification of Ministerial Decision No. 79305/27.7.2020 of the Minister of Finance on the ‘Enactment of the Gaming Regulation on the Suitability of Persons’” (Government Gazette B’ 3262/2020, Corrigendum B’ 4441/2020), the conditions and requirements that must be satisfied by Independent Specialized Laboratories and Certification Bodies are established in order for their certifications to be accepted by the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC).
The HGC accepts certifications, other than those relating to Gaming Machines and Special Gaming Venues (Studios), issued by Certification Bodies accredited in accordance with the applicable European and/or international standards by the Hellenic Accreditation System S.A. (ESYD) or by accreditation bodies of other countries with which ESYD has entered into a mutual recognition agreement.
