OPAP S.A. holds exclusive rights to operate a number of land-based games of chance in Greece through its agency network. Among the most significant games offered under the exclusive rights regime are the “KINO” number lottery, the “PAME STOICHIMA” fixed-odds betting game, “Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs)”, the “JOKER” number lottery, and the “Eurojackpot” transnational European number lottery .
The State Lotteries are operated by Hellenic Lotteries S.A., a company of the OPAP Group. Operations commenced on 1 May 2014, following the award of the concession. On the same date, the Instant State Lottery was relaunched under the commercial name SCRATCH.
In 2013, the Hellenic Republic initiated the process for granting the exclusive right to organise and operate pari-mutuel horse race betting, which had previously been conducted by the Horse Race Organisation S.A. (ODIE) since 1968.
On 24 April 2015, a 20-year concession agreement was signed between the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) and Horse Races S.A., a company of the OPAP Group. Since then, Horse Races S.A. has held the exclusive right to organize and operate horse race betting in Greece.
