{"id":12712,"date":"2026-03-20T11:16:57","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T08:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hgc.gov.gr\/the-hgc-informs-gambling-service-providers-about-the-new-framework-for-combating-money-laundering-that-will-apply-in-the-eu\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T11:46:56","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T08:46:56","slug":"the-hgc-informs-gambling-service-providers-about-the-new-framework-for-combating-money-laundering-that-will-apply-in-the-eu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hgc.gov.gr\/en\/the-hgc-informs-gambling-service-providers-about-the-new-framework-for-combating-money-laundering-that-will-apply-in-the-eu\/","title":{"rendered":"The HGC informs gambling service providers about the new framework for combating money laundering that will apply in the EU."},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"12712\" class=\"elementor elementor-12712 elementor-8472\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1be1c59 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"1be1c59\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-406d900 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"406d900\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In official letter, the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC) informed the supervised gambling service providers about the new regulatory framework for combating money laundering\u00a0 being implemented in the European Union, with the aim of ensuring the market\u2019s timely preparation.<\/p><div><p>More specifically, the HGC informed providers about the establishment and operation of the new European Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA), which is expected to play a central role in the development and implementation of the new European framework that will be gradually applied starting from 10 July 2027.<\/p><p>The HGC is designing a comprehensive set of actions to support the market and facilitate the smooth adaptation of supervised entities, including:<\/p><ul><li>targeted informational meetings,<\/li><li>presentations of the new AML\/CFT regulatory framework and its potential impact on the gambling market,<\/li><li>the organization of conferences and workshops to better inform market stakeholders,<\/li><li>and, finally, collaborations with specialized institutional bodies and the ecosystem of gambling and entertainment game providers.<\/li><\/ul><p>In particular, with regard to the ongoing public consultation process, the HGC encourages supervised entities to actively participate via the AMLA website (https:\/\/www.amla.europa.eu\/policy\/public-consultations_en), thereby contributing meaningfully to the dialogue on adapting the gambling sector to the new regulatory environment.<\/p><p>Referring to the issue, the Chair of the HGC, Antonis Vartholomaios, stated:<br \/>\u201cThe HGC will remain firmly by the side of supervised entities, actively supporting their smooth and effective adaptation to the new European regulatory environment, which contributes significantly to transparency and the protection of players and the public interest.
